The S&P; dropped 0.9% to 4,234.51 during midday trading. The Dow was down 0.6% to 33,593.66 and Nasdaq was flat at 12,839.71.
Crude oil decreased 5.1% to $96.87 a barrel.
Gold was down 1.9% to $1,898 an ounce.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 3.37% to 2.808%.
TECHNOLOGY
Irvine-based Vizio Holding Corp. (NYSE: VZIO) rose 7.7% to $7.21 with a market cap of $1.4 billion. Volume was about half of its daily average. Shares of the smart TV and advertising company are still down about 47% since March 3rd when it reported fourth quarter results. The company is expected to report first quarter results on May 12.
RETAIL
Irvine-based Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) was up 3.8% to $94.07 with a $2.8 billion market cap. Shares have now recuperated since Jan. 27 when the chain of retail shoes and apparel announced third quarter results that disappointed investors.
