Midday Stock Roundup

Major U.S. indexes saw gains during Monday midday trading, led by the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which jumped 1.3% to 29,864.77 after Moderna announced positive news for its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.

The S&P 500 increased 0.7% to 3,610.69 and the Nasdaq was up 0.3% to 11,862.86.

Crude oil rose 3.2% to $41.43.

Gold ticked 0.1% higher to $1,887.90.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 1.3% to 0.905%.

REAL ESTATE

Foundation Building Materials Inc. (NYSE: FBM) of Santa Ana surged 26% upon news of its planned sale to private equity firm American Securities LLC for $1.4 billion, including debt. The distributor of wallboard, ceiling systems and other building products has a current share price of $19.17 and market cap of $828 million, very near its sale price of $19.25 per share.

TRADE SHOWS

Emerald Holding Inc. (Nasdaq: EEX) jumped 10% to $3.43 and a $245 million market cap, continuing gains from Friday when the San Juan Capistrano producer of trade shows announced a new president and chief executive officer, Hervé Sedky. Shares for the company are up 14% in the past week.
