Ingram Buys in South America

Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro Inc. said it bought businesses in Peru and Chile from Clearwater, Fla.-based Tech Data Corp., on undisclosed terms.

The businesses are expected to add $270 million in annual revenue to Ingram.

It’s the technology distributor’s third acquisition in the last four months.

Ingram bought a 58% stake in Istanbul-based technology distributor Armada for $24 million through its Dubai-based Aptec Holdings Ltd. subsidiary. Ingram said at the time it would offer to buy all shares of Armada, which had about $280 million in sales in 2013.

Ingram in November bought Paris-based Anovo for an estimated $117 million. Anovo repairs and recycles smartphones and set-top boxes. It was expected to add about $300 million in annual revenue to Ingram.

Tech Data is publicly traded and had about $27 billion in sales in 2013; it reports 2014 results tomorrow.

Ingram is the largest technology distributor in the world and the largest company based in Orange County in terms of revenue, with about $43 billion in sales annually.

Ingram shares were up about 0.5% in midday trading to a $3.7 billion market cap.
