San Clemente-based ICU Medical Inc. will close its manufacturing plant in Vrable, Slovakia, and cut 265 jobs, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
The maker of needleless intravenous connectors and other devices said it is closing the Slovakian plant to take advantage of excess manufacturing capacity at its plant in Ensenada, Mexico.
ICU employs 150 in Orange County and 2,400 companywide.
The device maker said it expects the plant to close in 2016’s third quarter and will take a $3.4 million restructuring charge in the current quarter.
Shares of ICU were down 1% in midday trading to a market value of $1.8 billion.
