Irvine-based food manufacturer and distributor Golden State Foods Corp. acquired a vegetable supplier in New Zealand on undisclosed terms.
Snap Fresh Foods distributes salad greens, vegetable mixes, baby carrots and other products, including dressings. It was founded in 1980 by Ashley and Linda Berrysmith and has grown to about 150 employees.
The transaction is Golden State Foods’ second acquisition in New Zealand. Last year the company bought a majority stake in Groenz Group Ltd., a manufacturer of sauces and dressings.
Golden State Foods primarily sells to fast-food restaurants, including McDonald’s, Chipotle and Taco Bell. It serves 125,000 stores, operates 44 facilities, and employs 4,500 workers around the world.
The company had about $6 billion in revenue last year and is the second largest privately held company with headquarters in Orange County.
