Emerald Expositions LLC in San Juan Capistrano bought RFID Journal LIVE event and several regional expos from RFID Journal LLC in Hauppauge, New York on undisclosed terms.
The annual event focuses on radio frequency identification and related technologies and attracts some 3,000 attendees and about 200 exhibitors. Phoenix Convention Center will host the May 2017 event. Regional events include LIVE LatAm, LIVE Brasil and LIVE Europe.
RFID Journal’s founder and Chief Executive Mark Roberti and some senior executives will join Emerald, reporting to Executive Vice President Joe Randall.
“RFID technology is increasingly used to track and identify objects, particularly in automotive, aerospace, defense, pharma, farming and retail markets,” Roberti said in a statement. “With Emerald’s scale and events expertise behind us we will be able to expand … events to meet the growing needs of the RFID industry worldwide.”
Emerald produces more than 80 tradeshows and conference events a year and posted $307 million in 2015 revenue, according to Toronto private equity firm Onex Corp., which bought Emerald in 2013 from Nielsen Holdings NV.
Emerald is led by Chief Executive David Loechner.
