PacMerc’s Dellerba to Vice Chair; Search for New President Starts

Raymond Dellerba will step down as president of Pacific Mercantile Bank in Costa Mesa and will become vice chairman of the bank.

He remains president and chief executive of holding company Pacific Mercantile Bancorp, which has formed a committee to hire a new president for its subsidiary.

Industry veteran Howard Gould has been named director of a newly formed “office of the president” at the bank, which is expected to include the bank’s senior officers who will report to the board of directors, according to Pacific Mercantile.

Gould is vice chairman of Irvine-based advisory firm Carpenter & Co. and a managing partner of the company’s private equity arm, Carpenter Community Bancfund, which is the largest shareholder of Pacific Mercantile Bancorp.

Gould has served as California’s commissioner of financial institutions and in other senior banking roles at Bank of the West and United California Bank, among others.

Edward Carpenter, chief executive of Carpenter & Co., is chairman of Pacific Mercantile Bancorp.
