California United Bank has tapped commercial banking veteran Stephen Pihl as the new head of its Orange County market.
Pihl arrived from Premier Commercial Bank, the Anaheim community bank recently acquired by Encino-based California United. He’s been at Premier Commercial since its inception in 2001 as chief credit officer.
Pihl has spent more than 25 years in commercial banking and Small Business Administration lending in Orange County, including stints at Orange National Bank and California Bank and Trust.
Pihl serves on the executive council at the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at California State University, Fullerton, and on the board of the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
California United also has promoted Sam Kunianski, who’s been at the bank since 2006, to executive vice president. He will be heading commercial and private banking.
William Sloan was named executive vice president to lead real estate lending for the bank and oversee the Santa Clarita Valley region.
