Would-be raiders Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Bill Ackman appear to be running out of room for their argument that Allergan CEO David Pyott and his fellow board members overlook shareholders as they fight the hostile bid for the Irvine-based drug maker. It’s true that Allergan’s directors have yet to directly engage the offer. Also true: The bid has been raised three times and was still valued below Allergan’s market cap of about $56 billion late last week. Also true and largely overlooked: Allergan shares spent much of last week at or near all-time highs … An uncharacteristically small number—2—in connection with Bill Gross. The Bond King chose to answer just two of the more than 175 questions submitted on Oct. 9 for his first conference call since he jumped from Pimco to Janus last month. Check Jane Yu’s report on page 5 and draw your own conclusions about the questions Gross selected and the answers he gave … Reggie Gilyard, head of the Argyros School of Business at Chapman, welcomed Pimco CEO Doug Hodge among the OC execs who addressed the Western Association of Collegiate Schools of Business annual conference of deans. Gilyard hosted the confab at the Grand Californian, where Broadcom CEO Scott McGregor, Experian President Guy Abramo, and St. Joseph Hoag Health CEO Rick Afable also gave talks … FivePoint Communities had a lineup of food trucks, Kenny Loggins and our own Rick Reiff as emcee to draw several thousand to last week’s “Runways to Greenways” ceremonies at Great Park, which is the center of FivePoint’s Great Park Neighbohoods residential development (see Mark Mueller’s related coverage, page 1). FivePoint boss Emile Haddad also showed off an addition to his collection of orange ties—the latest featured bunnies kicking soccer balls, a fitting image amid all the young athletes who had a blast on a couple of mini soccer fields … There’s another demolition going on over in Anaheim, where crews are expected to start knocking down the old Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Lakeview Avenue, which got replaced two years ago by a 262-bed, 434,000-square-foot facility on La Palma Avenue. The teardown on Lakeview is slated to start this week and end in July. A new medical office is expected on the site, with additional possibilities still under discussion … Sam Ingardia keeps a sharp eye out for events of interest to the many restaurants throughout Southern California that count on his Ingardia Bros. in Santa Ana for fruits, vegetables and more. No surprise, then, that he’s the guy who told the Insider about Foreign & Domestic, which promises “3 Nights, Over 20 Chefs, 1 Kitchen” for its Indie Chefs Week starting Thursday at SoCo in Costa Mesa, with several of Ingardia Bros.’ customers in the mix … Food took on extra significance for Anaheim/OC Visitors & Convention Bureau CEO Jay Burress last week, when he settled a debt to his counterpart in Kansas City after the Angels’ flame-out against the Royals. Burress was on the hook for four rides of California Screamin’ at Disney California Adventure—one for each home run hit by the Royals. Burress stopped at Zov’s in Tustin for granola and yogurt before strapping in for the ride, which features a full loop.
