Angélica Suarez was named president of Costa Mesa’s Orange Coast College on Wednesday.
She will begin her post in July and succeed interim OCC President Kevin Ballinger, who will return to his role as vice president of instruction.
Suarez, an immigrant and first generation college student, serves as vice president for student affairs at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
OCC, which encompasses 164 acres, has an enrollment around 21,000 and offers 120 academic degrees and 150 career and technical certificates.
