Chapman Names New EVP, Chief Advancement Officer

To help lead $500M Inspire Campaign

Chapman University today announced the appointment of Jessica Berger as its next executive vice president and chief advancement officer, effective July 30, following a national search.

Berger succeeds Matt Parlow, who is taking on the role of president from Daniele Struppa on Sept. 2.

In her new position, Berger will help lead the university through the final phase of its $500 million Inspire campaign, which is set to close in 2028.

“I am confident that Jessica will help lead Chapman into the next phase of our $500 million Inspire comprehensive campaign and advance our efforts to grow philanthropic support, deepen community partnerships, and further elevate our national standing,” Parlow said in a statement.

Prior to Chapman, Berger served as vice president of university advancement and executive director of the foundation at California State University, San Marcos, where she oversaw a $200 million campaign that set a record for securing the first-ever eight-figure gifts for the institution.

She also contributed to fundraising efforts at Harvey Mudd College and Polytechnic School in Pasadena. Outside of education, Berger raised support to build a children’s home in Kenya and served in the U.S. House of Representatives as a congressional staff member.
