The unemployment rate in Orange County was 3.4% in February, unchanged from the month before.
That compares to a January unadjusted unemployment rate of 4.8% for California and 3.9% percent for the nation, the state’s Employment Development Department said in a statement today.
Between January and February, total nonfarm employment in OC increased from 1.68 million to 1.69 million, a gain of 10,500 jobs.
Leisure and hospitality added 3,500 jobs, the most of any sector. Sixty percent of the gain was in accommodation and food services with an increase 2,100 jobs.
