Chefs Pascal Olhats and Jessica Roy (winner of Guy’s Grocery Games on the Food Network) have been delighting diners at Café Jardin at Sherman Gardens in Corona del Mar now that Café Jardin is serving exclusively on a lovely patio surrounded by plush gardens.
In addition to their weekday lunch service, Olhats and Roy have launched a new Thursday evening dining event dubbed “Dinner for Two Under the Stars.”
“What could be better than date night with a leisurely dinner in these beautiful gardens, listening to live romantic music, sipping perfectly paired wines and degustating fresh, flavorful dishes with your loved one, spouse, partner, or best friend,” Olhats said.
The Dinner for Two is a four-course prix fixe menu with wine pairings that begins with tapenade nicoise and herb crustinis plus radish bouquet with saucisson, paired with Notorious pink rose wine.
Second course is a seafood plate with lobster beignets, smoked salmon crêpes, and scampi provencal, paired with Infamous Gold (cabernet blanc) from the south of France. Pascal let me sample the seafood plate, a gorgeous presentation that tastes as lovely as it looks. Jessica’s intricate handiwork was evident on the plate, especially with the petite flower petals.
Third course is a choice of entrées including roasted stuffed quail or Mediterranean seafood bouillabaisse. Each dish is paired with Scandalous One cabernet noir from France.
Fourth course is a choice of desserts, paired with a port wine.
The cost is $130 per person plus tax and tip. Includes paired wines plus Sherman Garden entry fee. Priority seating for couples; parties of four accepted if available.
This menu is also available for takeout for $80 per guest (minus wines). Pickup is available between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
