Electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) will debut the Rivian South Coast Theater, its first flagship retail location in Southern California, next week in Laguna Beach.
The automaker has been working on the overhaul of the former South Coast Cinemas along Pacific Coast Highway for several years, and will debut the concept on Dec. 9; it will display the company’s R1T pickup and R1S SUV vehicles and sell brand merchandise alongside “goods by local artisans,” the company said.
The 11,000-square-foot site first opened in 1935 as the New Lynn Theater. Rivian restored the original 129-seat theater and will screen films through a partnership with Laguna Beach-based nonprofit Coast Film Foundation.
Equator Coffee will also open its first OC outpost at the theater.
The facility will be Rivian’s largest retail location in its portfolio, and is situated roughly 15 miles from the company’s headquarters in Irvine.
