Randy Parker, current chief executive of Hyundai Motor America, has been named CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, effective Jan. 1.
Parker succeeds José Muñoz, who was promoted to CEO of Japan-based parent Hyundai in November.
“As I transition to the role of global president and CEO, I’m confident in the continued momentum of the North American market under Randy’s leadership,” Muñoz said in a statement.
Parker joined the Fountain Valley-based automaker in 2019 as vice president of national sales and was promoted to senior vice president in 2021. In 2022, Parker became CEO of Hyundai Motor America.
Before Hyundai, Parker was the vice president of Infiniti North America. He has also held roles at General Motors (GM), GM Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) and Nissan.
“It’s an honor to lead Hyundai and Genesis in North America and build on our growth trajectory,” Parker said. “North America has become one of the most important markets for Hyundai globally.”
Hyundai Motor America is the second largest automaker in OC ranked by a local headcount of 861. The company reported total sales of 758,304 vehicles year-to-date.
