Kia Recalls Forte Sedans

Irvine-based Kia Motors America Inc. has recalled 86,880 of its Forte sedans due to an increased risk of fire, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recalled vehicles were manufactured between Dec. 5, 2012, and April 17, 2014, and have a cooling fan resistor that might overheat and melt.

There have been no reported crashes or injuries linked to the recall, according to Kia.

The automaker sold 69,336 Forte vehicles last year, up 5% from 2013.
