Irvine-based Kia America revealed its first fully electric vehicle, the EV6 crossover.
The automaker announced the vehicle earlier this year.
The crossover has a range of about 300 miles and is expected to go on sale early next year. Some 1,500 EV6s will be available for registration beginning June 3.
The vehicle is the first of 11 electrics to be rolled out by the automaker globally by 2026.
The EV6 reveal also came with news the automaker had shortened its name to Kia America from Kia Motors America Inc. The branding move is in line with its corporate parent’s now streamlined name from Kia Motors Corp. to Kia Corp.
The name changes are linked to a $25 billion shift in the direction of the automaker it’s dubbed Plan Shift. The strategy covers everything from a branding overhaul to a greater focus on sustainability through electric vehicles and other mobility solutions.
