Megatrux Consolidates in Industry

Trucking company Megatrux Inc., the No. 8 woman-owned business on the Business Journal’s June list, has moved from Brea to a larger facility in Industry.

Owner Karen Pelle combined several of Megatrux’s operations into a 90,000-square-foot facility on San Jose Avenue in Industry. The company looked for space in several cities, including Brea, but was lured to Industry by the cost and the facility, said Toni Penn, a Megatrux administrator.

The site is closer to the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, the company’s main truck route. The building allows for secured storage and other distribution services, Penn said.

Clients contract with Megatrux to move cargo via its network of independent truck drivers and fleet operators.

Walt Disney Co., Pioneer Corp., Hitachi Ltd. and Teac Corp. are among Megatrux’s customers.

Pelle started the logistics company, typically a male-dominated venture,17 years ago.

Employment is up at Megatrux from a year ago, Penn said. As of June, the company counted about 25 OC workers and nearly 90 companywide. The company had sales of $36 million last year.
