Service Champions Founder Names New CEO

Brea-based Service Champions Group, a fast-growing provider of heating and air conditioning services, said Leland Smith will step aside as chief executive 22 years after founding the company.

Chief Operating Officer Frank DiMarco, who has 30 years of operational experience in the industry, was named CEO.

“Frank has been an integral part of Service Champions’ formula for success for four extraordinary years and I am confident he will thrive in his new elevated role leading this exceptional organization through future growth and the opportunities that lie ahead,” Smith said in a statement.

Smith, who will remain a partner and significant investor in the company, will become chairman of the board of Service Champions, a portfolio company of Odyssey Investment Partners.

Smith built the company to 2,000 employees with businesses in 18 locations in five states.
