Providence Breaks Ground on Women’s Health Center

San Diego-based healthcare real estate developer PMB and Providence St. Joseph Hospital have kicked off work on the new 137,000-square-foot Helen Caloggero Women’s & Family Center on the campus of Providence St. Joseph Hospital’s in Orange.

The center—named after the late mother of a large benefactor to the hospital, Marsha Moeller, co-founder of Anaheim’s Moeller Manufacturing and Supply—will house a wide range of services and amenities, including a mother and baby assessment center, a women’s mental health services center, a birthing center.

It’s going up at the intersection of Main Street and Stewart Drive, a few blocks north of the Garden Grove (22) Freeway.

Food, office space and retail, including a Blue Bowl Superfoods outlet, are some other features of the project. Visitors and tenants will also have access to an underground parking garage.

“This is the first step in our partnership to bring high-quality, multifaceted women’s and children’s wellness programs to the greater Orange community,” PMB President Mark Toothacre said in a statement. “The women’s and family center will provide many benefits for local residents and physician tenants.”

Tenants will also have an opportunity to become investors in the building, Toothacre said.

In August, demolition began for an older medical office building that existed at 363 S. Main St.

The new facility, also close to Children’s Hospital of Orange County, is slated to open in two years.

‘Community Asset’

The architect for the project is the Orange County office of Boulder Associates and the general contractor is the Irvine-based commercial construction firm Snyder Langston.

“We are excited to work with Providence St. Joseph Hospital to begin developing its new women’s and family center,” Toothacre said. “The center, which will be highly accessible on the hospital campus, will provide comprehensive, personalized care for women and children of all ages. It is sure to become an important community asset.”

PMB’s management company, PMB Real Estate Services (PMB RES), will serve as property manager, and PMB and Madison Marquette will manage leasing.

PMB has developed over 100 facilities representing approximately 5.5 million square feet. The firm owns and manages 66 medical facilities comprising over 4.2 million square feet.

It’s worked on other project for Providence in Orange, including a medical tower and cancer center. Elsewhere in OC, PMB has worked on medical projects in Los Alamitos and Mission Viejo. n
