Orange County ranks 21st in the country for its ability to foster technology talent and jobs, up five places from last year, according to a report from commercial real estate firm CBRE Group Inc.
The Tech Talent Scorecard measures the top 50 North American markets’ standing in terms of creation of tech degrees, tech jobs and the overall effectiveness in supporting the sector. The San Francisco Bay area was in first place for tech talent.
CBRE called Orange County’s jump in the tables “pretty amazing.” Some other findings in the 2020 report:
• Orange County’s tech-talent labor pool totals 73,524 workers, which amounts to 4.4% of the overall OC workforce.
• OC ranks 11th across all markets with an average tech talent wage of $100,869, just behind Los Angeles.
• Office rents in Orange County are 48% higher than they were five years ago.
