Irvine-based retailer Tilly’s Inc. is set to lose longtime Chief Merchandising Officer Debbie Anker-Morris, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The head of merchandising’s departure is effective Sept. 27, following a 15-year run at the men’s, women’s and children’s chain. She was promoted to her current position in 2015; the company’s latest proxy statement listed her among the company’s five-person executive team.
A spokesman for the retailer could not be reached for further information.
Tilly’s recently capped a strong quarter, beating analyst expectations and earlier projections to come out strong during the back-to-school selling season.
Tilly’s reported net sales up 2.8% from a year earlier to $161.7 million for the quarter ended Aug. 3. Meanwhile, net income for the August quarter totaled $9.3 million, compared to $9.7 million in the year prior. Tilly’s counted 229 stores at the end of the August quarter, including two pop-up shops for its in-house brand RSQ, which is expected to see its first store next year.
