Mission Viejo-based Ensign Group Inc. said today that it will buy nine skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, a home health agency, and a private home-care business in the San Diego area from El Cajon-based Shea Family Care.
A purchase price wasn’t disclosed.
Ensign provides skilled nursing, assisted living, therapy, home health and hospice, among other things.
The company’s new facilities range in size from 52 to 120 beds and are in San Diego and several of its suburbs, including La Mesa, La Jolla and El Cajon. Ensign said in a news release that it would buy and retain the real estate of two of the nine operations and assume long-term leases on the remaining facilities.
Ensign said it expects the acquisition to take effect this quarter.
Shares of Ensign were up 2% to a market value of $784.6 million in early afternoon trading.
