Ensign Acquires Nursing Homes in California and Idaho

Ensign Group Inc. of Mission Viejo has bought a nursing home in Escondido and two nursing homes in Idaho in separate deals.

Terms of the deals weren’t disclosed.

Palomar Vista Healthcare Center, a 74-bed nursing home, is Ensign’s California buy. Ensign said one of its subsidiaries had operated it for nine years under a lease with a purchase option.

The company also bought Discovery Care Centre in Salmon, Idaho, and Owyhee Health & Rehabilitation Center in Homedale, Idaho, from an unspecified seller.

Discover has 45 nursing home beds and 24 assisted living units, and Owyhee has 49 nursing home beds.

Ensign now has 107 facilities after the Palomar Vista and Idaho deals. Eighty-three of those facilities are owned by the company itself.
