Irvine-based Commercial Capital Bancorp Inc. formed a unit focused on banking services for businesses on Wednesday.
The company hired James R. Daley, a former Comerica Inc. executive, to run the division.
Daley will hold multiple titles, including executive vice president with the thrift’s parent.
Within the company’s Commercial Capital Bank, Daley is executive vice president and head of the commercial banking division. He’s also president of the corporate financial services group.
Daley’s “addition enables us to officially launch the bank’s commercial banking division,” said Stephen Gordon, chief executive of Commercial Capital.
Commercial Capital recently hired an executive for its retail banking arm. Richard Grout was tapped for the thrift’s newly created position of executive vice president and director in charge of retail banking.
Grout is the former retail banking head of Newport Beach-based Downey Financial Corp.
He was responsible for Downey’s 170 branches and is said to have boosted deposits from 2000 to 2004.
