CONSTRUCTION

McCarthy Building Cos. promoted Paul Kinsley from senior preconstruction director to chief estimator in its Newport Beach office.

EDUCATION

Karen Eriksen was appointed department head of counseling programs for Argosy University/Orange County’s American School of Professional Psychology. Before joining Argosy, Eriksen was an assistant professor at Radford University in Virginia.

HEALTHCARE

Tze C. Ip, a resident of Huntington Beach, joined Newport Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in the treatment of hand, wrist and arm injuries.

Mark Kan, who specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, joined Coastal Fertility Medical Center as medical director of its Aliso Viejo office. Kan received his medical degree at Chicago’s Loyola University and completed a three-year fellowship specializing in reproductive medicine and surgery at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

Newport Beach-based TriZetto Group Inc., a healthcare software and services provider, named Brad Samson vice president of investor relations and corporate communications.

INSURANCE

SullivanCurtisMonroe Insurance Brokerage in Irvine appointed Keith M. Miller as account executive. He will specialize in professional liability and commercial auto insurance. Miller previously worked for Vista International Insurance Brokers in Fullerton.

LAW

Feldsott, Lee, Iger & Lew appointed Ta Lu Riley as associate attorney for the firm. Riley is a graduate of the University of California, Berkley, and Loyola Law School.

MARKETING

Aliso Viejo-based Epic Brand Group Inc., a healthcare advertising and marketing company, named Neil McQueen executive vice president.

NONPROFIT

Sherrill Hanley joined the Orange County Community Foundation as community partnership specialist. She will assist in overseeing the discretionary granting program, coordinate training opportunities and conducting nonprofit site visits.

Kim Farthing was selected as campaign director for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society serving Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. She previously worked as the director of fundraising for the Newport-Mesa Schools Foundation.

Four directors were appointed to the board for the newly formed Orange County Great Park Corporation: Miguel Pulido, mayor of Santa Ana; Michael Pinto, board of directors member for the Laguna Canyon Federation; James “Walkie” Ray, owner of Sanderson J. Ray Development Corp.; and Richard Sim, retired chairman of investment properties for The Irvine Company.

The Orange County Chapter of Tax Executives Institute Inc. named its chapter officers for 2003-2004: president, Ellen V. Margetich of Allergan Inc.; vice president of programs, Katherine A. Nichols of Wet Seal Inc.; vice president of membership, Gregg S. Morrison of Broadcom Corp.; secretary, Karen J. Smarr of Bourns Inc.; and treasurer, Audrey E. Sherman of Allergan Inc.

Ballet Pacifica appointed Benjamin Korn as director of development. He replaced Barbara Grady who retired this year. Korn comes to Ballet Pacifica from the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, where he spent two years as director of development.

The Community Foundation of Orange named two new members to its board: Jamie Spitzer, who practices law with Ufkes, Bright & Spitzer, and David Currey, director of athletics at Chapman University. The Community Foundation of Orange promotes public and private partnerships to fund the creation and enhancement of community recreational programs and facilities in Villa Park and Orange.

REAL ESTATE

Laguna Hills-based Guthrie Development Co. hired Brett Anderson as project manager for Orange County.

Grubb & Ellis Co. appointed J. Mark Larson senior vice president with the investment group in the Newport Beach office. He will focus on the sale of investment properties in the $1 million to $10 million range. Larson comes to Grubb & Ellis after 23 years at CB Richard Ellis Inc.

Steven E. Delson was named vice president and chief operating officer of Newport Beach-based Marina Developers LLC, a company focused on developing mixed-use projects in marina settings. He formerly worked as vice president of Mission Viejo Co.
