Chipotle to Boost Summer Traffic with ‘Extras’ Rewards Program

Chain looks to 'reward frequency and deepen engagement' with loyalty members

Looking to drive summer traffic, Chipotle Mexican Grill is bringing back last year’s rewards program dubbed “Summer of Extras” that urges loyalty members to order at Chipotle frequently enough in the next three months to earn free food.

The campaign runs from June 1 through August 31. When members sign up to participate in the summer program, they can earn extra rewards points on their Chipotle account when they hit a visit “streak” at the restaurant chain.

A free entrée is worth 1,625 points.

The 2025 summer event drove incremental sales estimated at more than $12 million, according to Chipotle. The Newport Beach chain counts nearly 23 million active rewards members as of May.

“Chipotle is leaning further into interactive, gamified loyalty experiences that reward frequency and deepen engagement,” the company said in a statement.

The returning “Summer of Extras” program follows Chipotle’s recent redesign of its mobile app that launched in April. Chipotle, with a market cap of $41 billion, is Orange County’s second largest publicly traded company (NYSE: CMG).
