Costa Mesa-based Ceradyne Inc. has landed another order for its ceramic body armor, this one for $75.5 million, the company said Tuesday.
The Army order brings Ceradyne’s total to $179 million under a $461 million contract the company was awarded a year ago.
The company should see more orders under the contract, said Joel Moskowitz, chief executive.
Ceradyne has seen its shares surge in the past three years, largely from a surge in military orders for the company’s armor. The armor is used by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But of late, Ceradyne’s stock has slumped after missing first-quarter estimates.
The company’s shares rose 11% at close of trading Tuesday.
