Hanwha Opens Irvine Center for Surveillance Tech

Hanwha Vision has opened an Innovation & Technology Experience Center, the South Korean conglomerate’s latest expansion in Orange County.

The center, which held a grand opening on July 30 in the offices at 100 Spectrum Center Drive, gives business visitors full access to the video surveillance options and security innovations the company has to offer.

The products include security cameras, video surveillance tech, audio devices and software systems.

The Hanwha Group is already well known in various areas of OC.

Costa Mesa-based defense company Anduril Industries said in February that it is teaming up with Hanwha Defense USA to bid on the army’s unmanned warfare equipment carrier, sometimes referred to as a “robotic mule.”

Hanwha Aerospace has invested $145 million in flying taxi company Overair, which is based in Santa Ana. Last fall in Seoul, Hanwha Systems and Overair signed agreements aimed at speeding up the use of electric-powered vehicles in South Korea.

In Irvine, the company EnFin was formed in 2021 and began originating residential solar loans in October 2022. The firm is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hanwha Qcells, a solar panel manufacturer in the U.S. residential and commercial markets with offices at 300 Spectrum Center Drive.

Hanwha Convergence USA Corp., a subsidiary of Hanwha Energy, is located in Anaheim.

Hanwha Group

The Hanwha Group has grown into a large multi-profile business conglomerate, with diversified holdings stretching from explosives—its original business—to energy, materials, aerospace, mechatronics, finance, retail and lifestyle services. It is the seventh largest private company in South Korea with $65.3 billion in sales in 2022 and ranked No. 296 on the Fortune Global 500.

The Hanwha center in Irvine offers a comprehensive line of security and video surveillance solutions, which include IP cameras that support up to super-high 8K resolution, a video management system, video and audio analytics, multi-sensor technologies and device integration with a host of third-party application providers.

The Irvine center has about 4,000 square feet of space.

The center will come under the direction of Danny Stamper, regional sales director for the Western U.S. Similar centers are located in Teaneck, New Jersey, and Houston.

Initially, the center in Irvine will be staffed by one or two full-time employees but will be “supported and utilized” by the Southern California team of nine to 10 people, Stamper told the Business Journal on July 26.

It will host Hanwha Vision commercial customers, prospective customers and industry events.
