Broad Street Oyster Co. Replaces Ruby’s in Huntington Beach

First Orange County location for LA seafood chain

LA-based restaurant chain Broad Street Oyster Co. opened at the Huntington Beach pier on Saturday, replacing the former Ruby’s Diner that closed in 2021.

The original building remains intact with renovations focused on the interior dining area and décor. It previously housed another diner concept, Bud & Gene’s, that opened for a short time in 2022.

Surf City marks the eatery’s fourth location in California and its first time in Orange County. Broad Street’s menu features oysters, lobster rolls, fried clams and other seafood dishes.

Founder Christopher Tompkins plans to collaborate with local breweries and businesses on its wine and beer offerings as the menu develops.

The seafood concept was founded in 2017 and counts other locations in Malibu, LA’s Grand Central Market and Santa Barbara. A fifth restaurant will open in San Francisco later this year.
