The yield on a 10-year treasury bond rose 0.32% to 1.59%.
The price of gold fell 0.04% to $1,695 per ounce.
Shares of Anaheim-based Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. continued to make gains, rising about 4% to $50 for a recent market value of $3 billion. That comes a day after Questcor shares jumped 10% after the drug maker said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it is eligible to pay out a lower Medicaid rebate on some sales of its core drug Acthar Gel.
Irvine-based medical device maker Endologix Inc. was down about 5% to $12 for a recent market value of $739 million amid a mixed day for the sector.
