Ronald Skipper, chairman of Pacific Premier Bancorp Inc. since 1997, announced his retirement, effective July 26.
Pacific Premier’s subsidiary, Pacific Premier Bank, is among the largest banks based in Orange County, with $1.07 billion in assets at the end of the second quarter. The bank had a 9% increase in net interest income for a total of $11.3 million. It also had a roughly 6% increase in net income to $5.8 million.
Skipper has been a member of the Costa Mesa-based company’s board since 1983. No successor as chairman was named pending the next board meeting.
“The board will be discussing that, and there will be a board meeting on July 25, which will be the final meeting Ronald will preside over,” Chief Executive Steven Gardner said.
Skipper, an attorney, recently sold his San Bernardino-based law firm and retired from the practice.
Skipper oversaw Pacific Premier’s recent acquisition of Palm Desert-based Palm Desert National Bank from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The deal brought $120.9 million in assets to the bank.
