The Nasdaq was up 0.47% to 2,988, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.07% to 13,043.
The yield on a 10-year treasury bond fell 0.2% to 1.57%.
The price of gold was up 0.28% to $1,697.10 per ounce.
Shares of Costa Mesa-based networking equipment maker Emulex Corp. were down about 7% to about $6.40 a day after it signaled its intent to acquire Endace Ltd. in New Zealand for $130 million in an all-cash deal. Emulex had a recent market value of about $581 million.
