The Nasdaq was up less than half a percent to 3,069 in midday trading Friday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up less than 1% to 13,256.

The S&P 500 rose less than 1% to 1,416.

The yield on a 10-year treasury bond fell about 1% to about 2%.

The price of gold was down less than 1% to $1,618 per ounce.

Irvine-based Edwards Lifesciences Corp. rose 3% to $101 after an RBC Capital Markets analyst called out the device maker as a top pick with its Sapien transcatheter heart valve expected to double its revenue over the next five years. Edwards had a recent market cap of $12 billion.

Irvine-based printed circuit board maker Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc., known as M-Flex, saw shares up about 3% to $24 to a market cap of about $578 million.

Santa Ana-based circuit board maker TTM Technologies Inc. rose nearly 4% to about $10 to a recent market value of $801 million.
