The work of San Clemente-based Regenesis Bioremediation Products Inc. on a brownfield regeneration and environmental cleanup for London’s Olympic Park is getting extra attention amid the ongoing 2012 Summer Olympics there.
Regenesis manufactures products to treat water and soil.
Its products have been used by environmental consulting firms and engineering firms on more than 18,000 projects.
The cleanup project of the Olympic Park involved more than 500 acres of former industrial land, and a cleanup and renovation of the London Aquatics Centre, a facility with spectator capacity of 25,000.
The cleanup of the Aquatics Centre initially posed a difficult situation, and a vacuum extraction technology proved insufficient, according to the company.
Regenesis products, including its In-situ biodegradation process, were then put into use. Other proprietary products of the company, such as the oxygen–release compound and the controlled-release technology, also were used to clean up the facility.
