Hyundai Donates $1 Million for King Memorial

Fountain Valley-based Hyundai Motor America Inc., the North American headquarters for South Korea-based Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, donated $1 million to support the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation.

President Barack Obama was expected to officiate at the dedication of the memorial Aug. 28, but it was delayed due to Hurricane Irene.

The $120 million, 30-foot memorial sculpture sits between the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials.

Hyundai said it’s “committed to supporting projects, initiatives and activities that champion diversity, make a difference in communities across the country and contribute to the American cultural landscape.”
