Alliance Imaging Inc., a Newport Beach medical imaging and cancer care provider, said Tuesday it will change its name to Alliance HealthCare Services next month.
Alliance said it is changing its name to reflect the progress of a diversification bid.
In the past year, Alliance has moved into providing radiation treatments for cancer, as well as its core medical scanning business.
Alliance started pushing into cancer treatment in 2007, spending $36 million to buy eight cancer treatment centers.
The company also provides medical scanning services to doctors and hospitals.
Alliance said its New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol of AIQ wouldn’t change.
Under the new corporate name, Alliacne said its imaging centers could operate under the Alliance Imaging name and its cancer centers as Alliance Oncology.
