Weekly COVID-19 Data Shows Decline

The number of new coronavirus cases in Orange County continue to appear lower than previous days, with 23 cases reported Tuesday, following just nine new cases reported yesterday.

Today is the second day that the trailing seven days represented a decrease in new cases over the preceding week, furthering a notion that Orange County has reached its peak.

The 383 new cases in the past week, averaging 55 daily cases, is down from the 425 cases reported in the preceding week, averaging 61 daily cases.

There are about 1,300 cumulative OC cases, including 19 deaths. No new deaths were reported Tuesday.

Nationally, there have been nearly 26,000 deaths; the Orange County per capita death rate is less than one-tenth of the national rate.

The number of tests conducted by HCA’s public health lab and local commercial testing labs appear to be increasing; about 800 people were tested in the past day.
