Irvine-based angel investor network Tech Coast Angels invested $16.4 million in 61 deals in 2014.
The group said it raised the highest amount of capital and made the most deals last year since its inception in 1997.
Last year’s total investment amount was up about 12% from the $14.6 million invested in 2013.
Tech Coast Angels has five networks in Southern California and invests in a range of industries, including consumer goods, data storage, social networking, healthcare and organic agriculture.
New investments last year include Lake Forest-based beer tap company iPourIt and Los Angeles-based delivery services firm Schlep & Fetch.
Tech Coast Angels sold a number of its portfolio startups last year, including Bluebeam Software Inc. in Pasadena, which fetched $100 million from German software company Nemetschek AG. San Diego-based agricultural biotechnology company Allylix Inc. was acquired by Evolva Holding SA for $59 million.
