The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.1% at 17,798.49.
The Nasdaq was up 0.2% to 5,127.52.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.3% to 2.23%.
The price of gold was down 1.1% to $1,057.
TECHNOLOGY
Aliso Viejo-based Microsemi Corp. was up 1.4% on moderate volume to $36.13 and a $3.5 billion market cap. The semiconductor maker’s share price had by the end of the week recovered most of the ground lost after it announced the agreement to buy Sunnyvale-based PMC-Sierra Inc. for $2.5 billion.
HEALTHCARE
Tustin-based Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc. was up 4% to $1.31 and a $271 million market cap on high volume. Shares in the developer of cancer treatments traded at an average of 2.3 million a day over the last three sessions, more than double its 90-day average; the share price rose 15% this week.
