RESTAURANTS
Irvine-based fast casual burger chain Habit Restaurants Inc. saw its stock jump 100% to $36 and a market valuation of $900 million. It went public this morning, priced at $18.
RETAIL
Foothill Ranch-based Wet Seal Inc. is up 17% to 37 cents and a market cap of $31 million. The retailer’s second largest shareholder, New York-based Clinton Group Inc. said in a letter to the board of directors it was confident in Chief Executive Ed Thomas’ turnaround efforts. It also noted four areas it believes Wet Seal should focus on: finding a new lender, altering a previously planned equity financing transaction, real estate concessions by landlords, and a “strategic transaction” with a private equity or competing retailer.
