The S&P 500 was flat at 2,038.09 in midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.14% to 17,628.58 and the Nasdaq was flat at 4,682.85.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 0.81% to 2.33%.
The price of gold rose 2.54% to $1,191.
TECHNOLOGY
Santa Ana-based Universal Electronics Inc. was up 1.1% to $59.35 and a market cap of $937.5 million. The wireless product maker said it ended its patent dispute with Mountain View, Calif.-based Peel Technologies Inc.
