Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 fell 0.67% to 1,872.44 in afternoon trading Tuesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.81% to 16,377.36, and the Nasdaq was off 0.80% to 4,092.78.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond slipped 1.34% to 2.50%.

The price of gold rose 0.16% to $1,295.90 per ounce.

APPAREL

Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. was down about 4% to $5.87 for a market value of $996.41 million. Retailers and apparel companies were generally down on Tuesday following disappointing earnings results from Urban Outfitters, Dick’s Sporting Goods and T.J. Maxx and Marshalls parent TJX Companies Inc.


HEALTHCARE

Aliso Viejo drug maker Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. slipped about 5% to $4.67 for a market value of $745.60 million. Vice President of Finance Christine Ocampo sold 37,496 shares last week, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
