The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.14% to 16,559.09, while the Nasdaq was down 0.04% to 4,101.70.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 1.30% to 2.66%.
The price of gold slipped 0.43% to $1,293.40 per ounce.

Irvine-based professional services firm Resources Connection Inc. rose about 3% to $13.53 for a market value of $524.33 million. The company said Tuesday that its board approved a 7-cent dividend payment for shareholders.
MANUFACTURING
Newport Beach-based specialty chemicals maker American Vanguard Corp. was down about 2% to $17.96 for a market value of $516.75 million. The company is expected to report first-quarter results on Thursday.
