Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 rose 0.62% to 1,840.07 in afternoon trading Thursday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.75% to 16,160.08, while the Nasdaq was up 0.51% to 4,259.61.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 1.17% to 2.77%.

The price of gold fell 0.25% to $1,317.10 per ounce.

RESTAURANTS

Huntington Beach-based BJ’s Restaurants Inc. was off about 10% to $25.97 for a market value of $733.06 million. The company reported fourth-quarter results in line with analyst estimates, but a fall in adjusted profit from the year-ago period. The results followed a particularly rough holiday for restaurant operators and retailers.

HEALTHCARE

Anaheim-based drug maker Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. is up about 4% to $77.98 for a market value of $4.59 billion. The New York Times published a report Wednesday on Chief Executive Don Bailey’s regular stock selling plan.

Irvine-based medical laser maker Biolase Inc. shares jumped about 13% to $3.20 for a market value of $112.08 million. The company said Thursday it will distribute Stratasys Inc.’s 3-D printers under a reseller agreement.
