Midday Stock Roundup

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond climbed almost 4% to 1.177 %

The price of gold decreased 0.5% to $1,184.40.

The price for a barrel of oil rose 1.3% to $52.95.

HEALTHCARE

Lake Forest-based medical device maker STAAR Surgical Company (NASDAQ:STAA) rose 5.6% to $88.66 per share for a market cap of $4.1 billion. “STAAR Surgical’s earnings over the next few years are expected to double, indicating a very optimistic future ahead. This should lead to stronger cash flows, feeding into a higher share value,” analyst site SimplyWallSt.com said earlier in the day.

TECHNOLOGY

Costa Mesa-based artificial intelligence company Veritone Inc. (Nasdaq: VERI) fell 4.6% to $34.85 per share for a market cap of $1.1 billion The stock has been retreating from the recent high of $38.45 per share set last Friday.
