The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond increased 3.7% to 0.846.
Oil climbed 1.8% to $40.79.
The price of gold decreased 1.4% to $1,902 per ounce.
HEALTHCARE
Heart valve maker Edwards Lifesciences Corp. (NYSE: EW) fell 5% to $79.41 per share with a $49 billion market cap. The Irvine-based firm said yesterday that fourth quarter sales growth on a year over year basis will be similar to the 4% club in the third quarter to $1.1 billion. A 4% growth from $1.17 billion in last year’s fourth quarter implies about $1.22 billion in sales, below the average analyst estimate of $1.26 billion.
FINANCE
Santa Ana-based Banc of California Inc. (NYSE: BANC) increased 9% to $12.44 with a $609 million market cap. The company said today that third quarter earnings per share rose 153% to 24 cents per share, which beat analyst consensus estimates of 15 cents.
