Midday Stock Roundup

Fears over the state of the economy and the coronavirus pandemic weighed on major stock indexes.

The S&P 500 was down 0.2% to 3,173.97 during midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8% to 26,072.18.

The Nasdaq edged up less than 0.1% to 10,442.76.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond dropped 3.4% to 0.661%.

The price of gold increased 0.8% $1,808.60.

The price for a barrel of oil rose 0.3% to $40.77.

HEALTHCARE

Newport Beach-based Evolus Inc. (Nasdaq: EOLS) dropped 31% to $3.68 per share for a market cap of $124 million. The shares slumped after an administrative law judge released an initial determination against Evolus and Daewoong Pharmaceutical in a dispute over imports of wrinkle treatment Jeuveau. Evolus, which makes a competitor to Allergan’s Botox, said it intends to seek a review by the full U.S. International Trade Commission.

TECHNOLOGY

Artificial intelligence company Veritone Inc. (Nasdaq VERI) of Costa Mesa fell 7.9% to $12.07 for a market cap of $327.8 million. The stock has dropped 35% from a closing high for the year of $18.55 apiece on June 25.
