The Nasdaq declined 0.4% to 9,300.77.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond fell 3.4% to 0.67%
The price of gold ticked 0.3% higher to $1,711 an ounce.
A barrel of oil dropped 3.8% to $33.05.
HEALTHCARE
CorVel Corp. (Nasdaq: CRVL) in Irvine jumped 16% to $71.91 a share and a $1.3 billion market cap. The firm provides workers’ compensation services to employers, third-party administrators, insurance companies and the government. It reported quarterly earnings of 64 cents a share, up year-over-year from 63 cents, on a 3% drop in revenue to $147 million. Annual EPS were up nearly 4% on about a 1% decline in revenue to $592 million. The company has cut its workforce about 8% since March and moved more into telehealth and tech-based benefit and case management since the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
RESTAURANTS
BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) in Huntington Beach rose 6.4% to $22.25 a share and a $495 million market cap. Shares in the casual dining restaurant operator are 14% higher on the week; Zack’s gave it a boost Friday and touted its digitization.
