Following Tuesday’s brief respite, indexes fell again today.
The S&P 500 was down 7.4% to 2,342.00; the Dow Jones Industrial Average 8.2% to 19,490.07; and the Nasdaq 6.7% to 6,846.19.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond jumped 13.5% to 1.13%
The price of gold declined 2.7% to $1,485.
A barrel of oil plunged 18% to $22 a barrel, its lowest level in about two decades.
RESTAURANTS
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) fell 18% to $429.50 and an $11.9 billion market cap. Shares in the fast casual restaurant chain are down from a 52-week high of $940.28 in mid-February. The S&P 600 Restaurants Index dropped 22% today.
HEALTHCARE
NextGen Healthcare Inc. (Nasdaq: NXGN) rose 3% to $6.35 and a $415 million market cap. The medical practice software maker said the integration of two acquisitions last year into its technology offerings expand the ability of doctors and patients to interact over distances, enabling “integrated virtual visit capability,” a secure messaging system, self-scheduling, mobile check-in and online payment processing.
